TOLT: It Doesn't Feel Like Halloween Until...

Sometimes, simple, nostalgic things must take place before a holiday or event may take place.  I think of this as a less advanced version of Natural Order.  So here are some tradition/feelers-type things that always make it feel like Halloween is right around the corner for me ------- WHICH IT IS.  Better have your costume ideas squared away, people!

1.  Our neighbors change all of the hallway lights in the house to orange ones, and decorate the outside with cob webs.:)

2.  Candy purchasing -- CHECK.

Sorry, not sorry.

3.  Harry and I sit down with a pumpkin beer and enjoy some scary flicks.

4.  We will watch this this weekend with Sophs!

Pumpkin Carving and A Movie

5.  I usually listen to someone reading "The Raven" on the radio every year.  This year, I am dreadfully happy to curl up on my couch in a soft blanket and listen to THIS GUY READING IT.  Close your eyes and listen, friends.  Oh, the Poe-glory.

6.  FOLIAGE.

Thank you, Amanda!

What signs of Halloween are around you?

IMPORTANT:  What are you going to be for Halloween?!

Do you like to be scared?  Watch scary movies?  Scary stories?  Go to a haunted house?  SPILL.:)

Do you decorate your house for Halloween?

  1. Foliage and pumpkin beer. And, more and more, sadly, Christmas stuff in stores...

    1. IGNORE THAT JUNK! I can't believe what a hurry people are in to celebrate before one holiday is even over!:P

  2. Either going to be a fallen angel or a pirate! And finally I'll actually get to pass out candy to trick or treaters - my old neighborhood didn't really DO Halloween, it was depressing...

Normally my favorite sign of Halloween season would be pumpkins but we found out (the hard way) that my puppy is TERRIFIED of pumpkins. Not cut out ones with flickering lights and scary faces, just the plain old pumpkin sets her off on a hilarious binge of CRAZY. So no pumpkins this year, but plenty of pumpkin-flavored baking!

  3. I'm the biggest wimp, so there's no way I can do scary movies, but I do make sure to watch The Nightmare Before Christmas every Halloween -- it's tradition :) I don't see a tonne of people decorating around here, and we don't get any kids where I live, but I DO take advantage of the candy :D

    1. I'm not even kidding you -- I had my 7th and 8th graders watch "Nightmare Before Christmas" yesterday, bwahahahaha!:)

We don't get kids trick or treating, either. I still buy the candy. Yuuuuuuuuuup.
