There's a burrito under that salad.

I might as well come back to blogging with a random post, right?

And random things definitely need to happen on Thursdays, right?

:)

1.  I'm going to open with something that's not-so-random:  Meet our new fam member, Windy!

We adopted Windy (aka "Fuli") from a local Siberian Husky rescue (Raven's Husky Haven and Rescue), and she has fit right in to our home.  She's so sweet, curious, chill, fun, very athletic, easy going, and loves everyone.

Everyone, and especially Sophia.

It was love at first sight for them!

So now Sophia has a new partner-in-crime.

And I have a new running buddy.  Don't worry:  I'm very cognizant of weather/heat of the sidewalk, and would never put her or her paws in danger.  We've had mild mornings here in Chicago, and she has done very well with three-milers with me.  I'm not sure that I'll ask her to come with me much further than that, but we know she can definitely hit the 5K mark!:)  She handles perfectly on the leash -- I'm REALLY impressed!

2.  Second most important thing to me right now:  School's out for summer.<3<3<3

3.   Which means that many wonderful/hilarious things happened over the past two days.  Field Day being a coordinator for our district's sports administration, and the end of our Jump Rope for Heart event kept me very, very busy.  That included getting pied int he face by our top donator (the top six individual donators got to choose myself, work husband, our Principal or Assistant Principal, our Technology Coordinator, or our Dean of Students -- I was so happy that everyone was on board!).

She's lucky that she's one of my favorite students.:P

4.  I have to "trick myself" to eat salads.  I don't really appreciate the texture of leaves, so I'll mix salad stuffs in with whatever I'm having for lunch.  Case in point:  There's a burrito under that salad.  I'm one of those people that can mix food together, so every bite included a bit of a Southwest Amy's Burrito, and a bite of salad.  I get what I want, and what I need.

Side note:  Windy crosses her paws like a lady. 😂

5.   First #NetflixBinge of the summer break for me = The Biggest Loser on Hulu.  Talk about a throwback!  I started with season six; it was one of my faves back in the day.

P.S. I love Jillian.  I have always loved her, and will always love her.  She can do no wrong.

Have an awesome Thursday, y'all!  I'm off to stalk all of you like a mad woman.

Tell me what you're workout is today!
-MUAY THAI for me!  Yaaaay!

RANDOM:  What's your fave breakfast item?
-Eggs ---> sunny side-up for me, kthnx.

Do you run with your pup?  If so, how far do y'all go together?

Rise & Shine

Mannnnn, is there anything better than starting off your week with an awesome Monday?

3.12 easy miles through the 'hood to start off the day.  The sun is completely up at 5:00am now -- sunglasses were a must.  Also?  "My Shot" from "Hamilton Mixtape" on repeat.;)

I don't usually run on Mondays, but I'm switching things up before Harry and I head off to CO for BolderBoulder this weekend!

OH MY GOSH @ My NEW FAVORITE breakfast! <3 <3 <3

Continuing on that foam rolling kick -----> I grabbed my Original Worm and got to work while my Kindergarteners were doing their warm-up.  They kept glancing over at me, making hilariously painful faces and noises as I worked out some yukcies from my calves, hammies, and ITBs.  The very best thing about this tool is that it's so compact!  I can use it ANYWHERE.

Lunch and all of the vitamins I take.  Kind of pretty...

And finally!  I'M BACK at Muay Thai!  Time to rise up and continue working on the new athletic love of my life.  I was the only lady in the class; things got awkward when it came down to who I was pairing up with.  I've become really good at being assertive and choosing a partner, rather than just stand there and wait for someone to pick me.

I'm actually really good at pad-holding, if you ever want to work with me.:)

Nevertheless, I'm really excited to have reached the point of healing where I can go back to training Muay Thai.  It was my world for a short while, until I couldn't do it anymore.  So, like running, I'm happy to have it back in my life.

I got home and Harry and I started dinner.  I had *sweet potatoes with BBQ pulled pork* on the menu board.  However, I forgot to get sweet potatoes at the store. 😠 We ended up making something that probably looks like a meal a stoner would come up with:  Chile mac n' cheese, pulled pork, and I added some broccoli to mine.  Hey -- fat, protein, carbs.  It was all there.:)

That was a pretty darn good Monday.  I can only hope that I (AND YOU!) have an equally as awesome Tuesday!  Get out there and rock it, y'all!<3

What was dinner for you last night?

What was the strangest meal you've had as of late?

Tell me how your Monday was, please!

Good News! (With more to come!)

So get this!  After months of confusion (+frustration, mild depression, etc.) and a ton of indecisiveness from my Podiatrist, I went to get a second opinion.  While I really appreciated the help of the first guy, my new Podiatrist had MUCH more to say, MUCH more to do, and seems to be MUCH more motivated to find a way for me to get back to running, as well as back to Muay Thai.

So at my appointment last week, Dr. Chin prescribed an MRI, a night splint, and taping of my heel every single day.  Here's my new sexy sleepwear.:)

I have used tape before for minor snags, but this stuff leaves all those tapes in the dust!  I haven't had a lot of pain since taping my foot, and I've woken up without hobbling after getting out of bed since wearing the splint.  We're already off to a great start.

The MRI was fine (actually FUN -- the MRI tech was a riot, and threw on some 80s music for me to jam out to during the procedure [if you've ever had an MRI, you know that the machine doesn't make the most comforting noises]), and I even got a CD of my first professional photos of my left ankle.  Kind co

And the best news ever?  I don't have to wait too long to see Dr. Chin.  In fact, I see him this afternoon, and I promise that I'll update you tomorrow with the news.  Meanwhile, he (rightfully so) has restricted me from running and Muay Thai kickboxing.  After listening to every single Podcast from the Muay Thai Guys, I realized (finally) that I cannot let this injury get the best of me.  I'm still working on my cardio and boxing.

Spinning is taking place Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings.  I missed classes!  While I can do a spin workout on my own, I really like Instructor Sarah, and it just makes sense for me to hit up her classes for variety.  Another great thing about taking classes is that I don't have to think about what I need to do next to get a great workout.

In related news, I had to miss my last class of the day one day last week for (one of) my doctor's appointments.  I came back the next day and found a few notes for me.  Yes, after ONE DAY.:D

Our past weekend with Soph was pretty normal...other than when she and Harry stayed up late to see the Cubs clinch the NLCS.  Fireworks went off all around apartment (we aren't even remotely near Wrigleyville, but this city has been waiting for this!), and Soph was pretty stoked about it.

This was the scene the next morning...

Soph had some homework to do.  Harry had work to do.  I got to chill and plan out my week.  After dropping off the Bug, we got home in time for some football and Sunday-afternoon-stuff...
