The Weekend That Got Away

This past weekend FLEW, and I have no idea why!  It's not like we did anything outrageously funsies, no events to go to, and no social engagements in which to partake.  I think I was most excited about doing nothing, and that's basically why it went so quickly.

One thing that I need to point out early ------> I did NOT run this weekend.  I started feeling a sore throat coming on Friday evening/Saturday morning, and woke up Sunday morning with a full-blown sore throat and a bit of chest congestion.  My first instinct when feeling something come on at this point of the year is to REST.  I will work up a sweat this morning on the spin bike, since I'm already feeling a bit better.

My weekend started off innocently enough.  School was closed on Friday for "School improvement" day, which meant my awesome Administration feeds and educates us on anything from school ratings to how to facilitate movement breaks in the classroom.  This is where I excel (and really the only place I have in any of these meetings, bwahaha!).

For all you teachers out there, this one's for you!  GoNoodle.com is the bee's knees!

This happened.:D  Yeah, I'll get something new at some point, but keepin' the Jeep as long as humanly possible.  Sorry for the blurry pic - I guess I was stoked about the age of my engine.

I mentioned that they feed us during meetings, right?  I could NOT resist!

I got this e-mail at some point during the day, and it made my life.  I couldn't wait to get home.

After our long day of meetings and workshops, most of us decided to play a game of volleyball, then took off for something refreshing.  Most of us got a flight.

THIS WAS WAITING FOR ME when I got home!

It looks like Harry and I have a lot of traveling to do!  More on this package later.

Saturday morning, I woke up with a sore throat.:(  I got some house chores done sort of early.  Harry's Aunt Kim was going to stop by for a bit, bringing us a new chair for our living room, and our crockpot (just in time for chili!).  We visited for a while before she took off, and we got ready for some errands.  First stop:  Costco, for lunch and some groceries.

Costco lunch never disappoints, for the tummy nor the bank account.

All of the grease...just yes.

The Costco aftermath:  We NEEDED food in the fridge!  Look at all that fresh stuff.:)

My NEW FAVORITE PLACE TO PLACE MY BOOTY in the whole house!  I took two naps in this chair yesterday!

Harry and I got sushified, and I took another nap.

Sunday morning was much of the same as Saturday -- no running, no training, just food and my new chair.  My throat hurt even more, so I knew to take it extra easy.  My goal for the day = drink a little over 150 oz. of water (my usual, but I've been neglecting it lately) and do not change out of my PJs.

Spoiler alert:  I reached both goals.

The Texan in me wanted a breakfast taco (before moving up North, I had never heard of a "breakfast burrito"; I still wonder what the difference is), some scrambled egg/egg whites, some cheese, and a little bit of BBQ sauce on a flour tort.

AB&J and some Chicken Noodle Soup for lunch.

Like I need to say it, but cutting your sammich diagonally makes it taste better.

Saw this post on Instagram from our gorgeous hostess, and it made me feel better about being sick and not changing my clothes all day.

Since we got the crockpot back, we wasted no time getting a chili brewing!  Harry and I made a turkey chili with peppers, onions and kidney beans, with a Shiner Bock beer and tomato base.  Perfect for a cool evening, and the ingredients were so fresh!

Right, you guys.  Have a wonderfully marvelous Monday, and I hope you're feeling great!  I also hope that this post didn't make you too hungry.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Did you have a restful weekend?  Any football games you were stoked to watch?  Any other events?
-We laid in bed and watched THIS UPSET Sunday morning (because going out Saturday evening was clearly out of the question).

Does anyone have a race coming up?  TELL TELL TELL, please!

What's the last new thing you got for your house?

Did this post have too many food pics in it or what?

  1. I think a breakfast burrito is just bigger and wrapped up like, well, a burrito. But there's usually no rice or beans like in regular burritos. It's kind of like asking what the difference is between a cake and blondie. There's a difference in the amount of butter and ratios and stuff but otherwise.... not really.

  2. Whatever sore throat/congestion thing you had appears to have invaded my being. My weekend was full of non-stop action...maybe that's why I feel like a got hit by a bus late yesterday LOL I committed to "nevermissaMonday" this year, but that may have to get boycotted...we'll see how I feel this afternoon when I get home. UGH. I haven't been under the weather for quite awhile....(sorry for the whining). The only race I have coming up is our town's Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning...a friend and my husband (and myself) have been the main organizers since its inception three years ago.

  3. Can I please have all of your food? So good! I think the only difference between breakfast burrito and taco are the portability? But I could be wrong. Hope you feel better soon!

  4. I sure hope you are feeling better! You are much more restrained than me. I was out there running with bronchitis! Yep, bc I'm a nurse practitioner and normal rules don't apply to me, right? Yikes!

My son thinks he's got the most miles on his Jeep. 160K. You've got him beat!

  6. I looooove breakfast burritos. I got two new chairs this weekend for my office/study room. I'm pretty excited about them and spent almost the whole weekend in my office.

    1. Can you stop staring at them? I can't stop staring at my one new chair. I'm not even sitting in it right now, and I'm like "I wanna be in that chair..." Weird.

  8. It sounds like you had a fun weekend even if it went too fast! My weekend went fast too, though it really just involved getting things done around the house.

  9. Hope you feel better soon! It is the season for warm comforting food and unfortunately getting sick. We watched a lot of football per usual. I love Peyton Manning but his game yesterday was so sad!
