Should You Run Today?

My run yesterday morning was a bit of a dynamic since Saturday.  A drastic change, if you will.

Saturday morning:

And Sunday morning:

~6.3 relatively slow miles in some fresh, marvelous snow.  I had to be very cautious going over certain parts; that whole "slip and slide" effect kicks in, and I'd rather not have to react to that (or fall down...there's that, too).  I'm super glad that I had last winter as practice -- I know where and how to place my feet much better than I would have without all of that running on ice.

I text Harry to let him know that I was doing my "Girlfriend of the Year" classic maneuver of picking up coffee and breaky for us at the DD.

And speaking of MARVELOUS -- Thanks to our lovely host, Katie @ Healthy Diva Eats!

MiMM MIMM #124 Best Sick Weekend!

Two words that go together:  Chocolate Happiness.

We decided to try the "new" "Croissant Donut" from Dunkin' Donuts.  I'll give it a six out of 10, since it isn't entirely original, comes in a box, and seemed overly sweet [doesn't that sound silly?].

Sophs is happy with her sprinkles.  Always sprinkles.

Sophia took it upon herself to attempt to knock Harry silly with a (very small) snowball.  My reaction of  whipping out my phone to take a picture is getting Superhero-quick!

After some downtime (which Sophs really needed), we took off to drop her off and headed to the gym.  Harry likes doing what he calls "The Business Man's workout", which equates to a soak in the hot tub, a steam, some time in the sauna, and a shower.  He had a run planned before that magic started, so I hopped on this beast of a machine, a.k.a. my old friend, for a while.

And then right over to an elliptical with a handsome view.  He's very patriotic.

45 minutes total cardio donesies.  It's been a while since I've done this type of cross-training; it was refreshing.

After a stop at the beer shop, Harry and I came home and he made dinner...Turkey Sloppy Joes!

We watched a movie, and I quickly hit the hay.  I gotta get used to two-a-days very soon.

In other news...

I need this shirt on me.  Right now.

Thanks, Runner's World.  You always add perspective to my life.  Answer these questions...it's like shaking an overly interactive Magic Eight ball.

And just something to start off your Marvelous Monday!

Well...should you run today?

If no, did you have another kind of workout?  Tell me about it!

Yoga:  Are you doing it sometime this week?
-I'm going Tuesday afternoon to a class nearby!  Can't wait!

  1. Love your pics! I've never run in the snow but I'm from Chicago so I really want to one day...just for the fun of it :) I did my first half there (and will do my first full there in Oct 2015). I'm not a big donut fan (shocking I know) but before I started my current paleo phase I was addicted to apple croissants (Au Bon Pain....sooooo yummy and not too sweet)

  2. This is amazing. I need that magic 8 ball for runners but all up in my face. I can't believe you all had so much snow accummulation! we definitely didn't--just flakes and stuff, but nothing substantial.
"Business Man's Workout" + that shirt = OMFG

    1. Happy snowflakes. ^_^

I might get you this shirt for Christmas. It seems like something you and I should both have, in an ironic sort of way.

  3. Ah that shirt is so me! haha

It's funny, DD is everywhere back East but they just got DD here in Omaha and it is such a big deal. People line up outside the store to get it!

And random but I'd love if you shared this post on my new Weekend Snapshots link up. The link-up just went live today!

  4. Yeah, my runner's amnesia really caused me to hesitate before I ran outside yesterday. Couldn't remember what to wear, how the footing would go, etc. But it turned out to be awesome. I took the kids too DD this weekend as well and ordered a sprinkle job before I saw the Cronut. Oh well.

  5. We had that same drastic change over here in Michigan as well! Haven't had a chance to run in it yet but my son was super excited for the dusting of snow we got!

  6. So glad I live in So Cal, where I complain that it's too cold when it gets into the 60s. I did not run to day. I just wasn't feeling it. But I did make it to a 90 minute Vinyasa class, so there's that.

    1. We didn't have them regularly in Texas. I think Dallas and Houston might have had more, but none to be found in Central and South Central Texas. Now I have one on every block!
