Things Don't Always Go As Planned [And That's Okay]

From HRG:

Robin Williams was one of the very few souls in this World that I actually wanted to meet.  (I'm not kidding when I say that that list is extremely short.)  A comedic hero...a man who could forever give me the giggles, snorts, and side-stitches from laughing so hard.  I'm heartbroken that this won't happen, and I feel almost selfish about that.  I watched "Mork and Mindy" on Nick at Nite (I was notorious for watching old shows as a kid), I have loved nearly every single one of his characters, and his stand-up.  Good Lord, his stand-up:  A magical tennis match of wit and laughter, lib, snark, and WISDOM.  The golf bit in his "Live on Broadway" will forever resonate through club houses all over the World.

It hurts my heart to know that someone like him had personal demons, ones that apparently beat him.  I'm praying for his family, friends, loved ones, and anyone on this planet that he made laugh, touched, or inspired.  We're all hurt, I'm sure.

In other life news...

5:15am, I was on my way out to work where I was going to rock out an 8-miler on the trails.  Next thing I know, the CHECK GAUGES light appears on my Jeep's dash and a loud BEEEEEEEEP is going off.  Thankfully, I was only a couple of miles away from the house, but had to pull over into a McDonald's parking lot(clearly lit and safe) before my Jeep overheated (which it was dangerously close to).  My Jeep spewed water underneath.  After about ten minutes, I started it back up and took off for the house, parked and called-in to work.

Knowing that there was nothing I could do for a couple of hours regarding my Jeep, I went out for my run.   It was reaaaaaally humid and windy, but cool, sort of like last Tuesday's run.  My biggest problem:  I was trying to run away from problems.  I'm one of those people who can't do that.  Some people say to run when you're angry or upset; all that will get me is injured.  Case in point:  I went out too fast today.   Every time I started thinking about my Jeep or money that it'll take to fix it, I'd have to correct myself and focus on putting one foot in front of the other. I ended up with 8.11 miles at my goal marathon pace, which was what I was aiming for today, but it was more difficult than it should've been.  And that's okay.  Training runs like this one don't happen all that often.  I received a gentle reminder a la tunage while I was running:

I got home, got cleaned up and had some breaky, then dropped my Jeep off at the shop.  Since we live only a couple of blocks away from the auto shop, I got to come home and keep myself busy.

And now, the Jeep is fixed.:)  I'm happy that I didn't fret too hard or too long over something I had no control over; it's just nice to know sometimes.

After a day of not fretting (really), I needed the YERRRGAH with Wendy!

Ah.  That was nice.  Some good shoulder and hip opening poses this evening!

And on the way home, I saw this guy at Josi's.  Just hangin' out.  Enjoying his froyo.

Enjoy the rest of your Tuesday, y'all!

Can you take your issues out with you while training?

Favorite "Keep me in-check" song?

ARE YOU READY FOR SCHOOL TO BEGIN?
-I work at a year-round school. I'm always ready. Heh.

  1. Good thing homeskillet was sitting inside, otherwise his froyo would have melted looong ago. Or theoretically, at least, it isn't really that hot out. Every now and then I think we need to have things go awry simply to remind ourselves that it is ok. Glad that they didn't go too terribly awry for you to not be able to recover from!
