Simply Marvelous - Harry's Chili Recipe!

I've decided to jump in on the #MIMM!  Because seriously, what's more fun than putting Marvelous in your Monday?

MiMM MIMM #113 Silence is Golden
To celebrate the first *FOOTBALL SUNDAY*, we had a couple of brews lined up, and Harry started a slow-cooked bison chili.  Chili, in its best form, has simple ingredients that create a complex taste and layers of flavors.  It doesn't take much to achieve this!  See below.:)

Harry's Chili

1-1.5 pounds of your favorite protein (we've used ground turkey, ground chicken, beef or bison)
1 white onion, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
1 jalapeno pepper, chopped
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 can of Kidney beans
1 14.5 oz. can of fire-roasted tomatoes
1 8 oz. can of tomato sauce
3 pinches of crushed Ancho Chipotle Pepper
Salt and Pepper to taste
1 bottle of Shiner Black Lager (if you cannot get this, try Schwarz bier)

Cook and brown protein; drain and throw into crock pot.  Put other ingredients into crock pot.  Cook on low heat for 4-6 hours.  Serve with shredded cheese, or topped with sour cream, and Saltines!:)

Paired with some Chicago Fire soccer.  My Cowboys (I'm a loyal, life-long fan, no matter what...even after THIS game) derped and lost hard, but Harry's Steelers won, so the day wasn't a total loss.  Heh.

As far as training goes for today, I got up extra early and went to a new gym.  This gym is actually on the way to work, which was not the case when I was going to the gym out by where I used to work.  It took me 45 minutes to get to the *old* gym.  It took me 15 minutes to get to the *NEW* gym!  <3 <3 <3 !!!  ALSO, there's a pool!  Hallelujah!

I didn't swim this morning, but rocked out a great 45 minute spin class with a great instructor.

Chef Harry is making dinner again tonight...Cajun Pasta!  After a full day of "Crab Soccer" and "Ollie Ollie Octopus" with the kiddos, I'm STARVING.

  1. That chili recipe sounds delicious, and since it's in the crockpot, I think I can handle that!

I'm not much of a cook, but I made a copycat recipe of the Olive Garden pasta fagioli soup last winter, and it tastes SO GOOD when it's cold outside.

  2. Mmmmmm I love chili (it doesn't always love me, sadly) but Alex LOVES chili, so this might be a contender.
