Harry Is Famous!

Can I just start off this post by gloriously declaring that I'm currently watching Puppy Bowl XI?  Yes.:)

My weekend was an awesome mix of relaxing and busy.  The busy being that I FINALLY got a new computer, AND a new Garmin...FINALLY.  We had planned on shopping at Costco (paper towels and coffee in bulk, for the win!), but the lines were so hideous that we just ended up having lunch there.  And there ain't nothin' wrong with that.

My poor laptop that got me through college is falling apart.  In fact, the screen has to be held up by another heavy object placed behind it.  It was time, and I'm happy with my choice.

Knowing that there was going to be a massive storm moving in Saturday night, I didn't really bother much with the Garmin.  I'll be happy to take some fantastic pictures of it very soon...like when this stuff melts.

Sunday morning.  I mean holy guacamole.  A foot of snow was projected, falling throughout the day, and I'm pretty sure they were dead on with that prediction.  Those meteorologists should have bet big money from the Super Bowl.

I wanted to be L-A-Z-Y.  I was not stoked at all about the idea of hoofin' it to the gym to get on the dreadmill, but Harry mentioned stopping for Chipotle on the way home, and I couldn't resist.  He knows how to motivate me.:)

While we were walking to the gym, Harry snapped a photo of our snow-covered neighborhood and posted it to his Twitter account.  A few moments later, a DNA Info reporter contacted Harry to ask if they could use his photo with cred.  Uh...wow.

SNOW EVERYWHERE.  Even in my coat pockets and all over my Apera gym bag.

A short three-miler on the 'mill, 10 minutes of corework that I'm sure will leave me sore for a week, showered up, and Harry and I were off to grab some lunch and groceries before heading home.  We're very, very lucky, as we didn't have to jump in the car and take off down the treacherous roads.

I look stuck, huh?

Some much needed calories.  For whatever reason, I was starving.

Once Harry and I got to the store, we noticed an unusual amount of pigeons just hanging out in front of the store.  And one that wanted to be my friend.

Finally getting home.

Luckily, Harry and I grabbed some provisions while we were at the store.

And my first beer of the (event) day.  Thanks, Fearless Leader Greg and Solemate Steph for the birthday bubbles!

The rest of the day, of course, was all Super Bowl business.  Nothing out of the ordinary, other than our friends couldn't visit us because of the blizzard.

Also, just one last thing..

SNOW DAY!

Are My Tan Line Maintenance Days Over Already?

So I started my run this morning in capris and a long-sleeved wick'ing shirt.  46*F and very cloudy.  I even put on ear-warmer headband, since Harry informed that the "feels like" temperature was more like 34*F.  I'm happy I wore it.:)

Like I mentioned in my previous post, I'm getting over the sickies.  I know that taking the rest and time to relax as much as possible (when not bouncing around and playing games with about 400 children in my P.E. classes every day) and EATING has helped nurse me back to somewhere past 80% very quickly.  I let myself sleep in this morning, then left late to run.  It was perfect.  The first four miles were a very easy warm-up, then I decided to hit the gas a bit, finishing the last eight miles around goal marathon pace.  Today was the perfect day to try something like this out, too!  In fact, this entire week was perfect for how things went; being sick and whatnot, within a step back week.

Side note:  I'm obsessed with this song.

It looked like this most of the time; no lie.  Is summer over now?  I'm used to WAY more heat and humidity carrying over into this brisk, cool weather, but I ain't complaining!  I know that I'll have more days to wear shorts, but I'm beginning to think that it's going to be pants and capris for a long while pretty soon.<3

After I got home, I had exactly 15 minutes to shower up, shove some food in my face, and go pick up Sophia.  Harry was still out on his run, so I was going solo.  Sophs and I met up with him afterward at our new favorite neighborhood spot:  CHIPOTLE.

That's a lot of grub for three people.  We devoured it all!

Later, I had some work to do for school, so Harry and Sophs retreated to our bedroom to watch Spongebob and hang out.  I ran in there after a little while to get some snuggle time with the munchkin.

Dinner came suddenly...

And then DESSERT!  We haven't had Skookies in forever!

I'm happy to say that I haven't felt yucky or sickies at all today, slight from a few sniffles and coughs.  I felt like I could've run much farther, especially at the pace I was going.  That's a SUPER great thing, considering where I'm at in marathon training.  Though the warmer weather is gone, and I won't be able to work on my goofy shorts tan lines, I"m so very stoked that Fall has come!

What is a real kick-in-the-tail workout that you've done recently?

What's the best race or event you've been in lately?

Any Fall shows coming on that you're excited about?

-"American Horror Story:  Freak Show", "Hell's Kitchen", and I just want to see Lolo Jones rock out DWTS (though I've never really watched it).

Marathon Training: Week 13 [And My First Week as a P.E. Teacher]

WARNING:  This post has a lot of information AND PICTURES OF FOOD.  Do not read if you're hungry!:)

This has been such a wonderful week!  In case you didn't know, I recently landed a job as a P.E. teacher.  I finally get to do what I went to college for, woot woot!  My weekly mileage may have suffered a tad; I still have to get up extra, extra early to run in the morning, or I have to run in the afternoon...on the treadmill...for which I'm never in the mood.  For the next few weeks (before taper), I'm going to have to really focus on getting my mileage done.  My long run was perfection, so no worries there.  I should peak in two weeks, so I'm hopeful that I can keep a steady, consistent training schedule going!

Additionally, blogging will be back on track this next week.  I'm sorry for the hit-or-miss'ness of posting, as well as stalking you guys.  I'm back on it tomorrow morning with my Monday coffee.  ;)

As for this past week, in terms of Marathon training...and noms.

Week Thirteen Wrap-Up:

Monday - 45 minutes spinning while Harry was on the tready.

We hit up the club next to where we drop Sophs off.  It worked out perfectly!

And a "successful weekend with the kiddo" beer!

This ended.  Sad.:(

Tuesday - 4.01 easy miles on the dreadmill before Yoga.

And Harry went to class with me!

Wednesday - REST
I was feeling SUPER MEH on Wednesday!  I'm not sure if it's because of *girl parts time* coming up, or from working with the kiddos at school.  Either way, I skipped track night with the /R/iver /R/unners, and had some alone time at home.  I felt very rested the next day, so I got up early to pound out some miles.

Thursday - 6.81 easy miles through the 'hood...narrowly escaping a thunderstorm!

Friday - 4.25 easy miles.  I realized that I haven't been to one of my favorite places to run in a long while:  The park just a mile away from me.  I love that I live here!

Saturday - 21.21 beautiful long run miles.  A cool front moved in.  It was 62-70*F for three and a half hours.  I was the happiest runner in the whole city.  I'm convinced that the muscles that were worked the most were my smiling muscles!:D

I also finally got a chance to try this!  O...............................M.................................gah.

Harry finished up his 21 miles as well, and decided to "bang bang" Josi's Frozen Yogurt with the newest addition to our neighborhood:  CHIPOTLE.

Sunday - 5 recovery miles through the park (again!) with Harry.

We ended our run with some coffee, and some Glazed and Infused donuts, from a local coffee shop, Portage Grounds.  I was told that they have almond milk here, so I'm totally tackling a pumpkin spice latte when it gets cold!  <3

41.28 miles for the week.  It wasn't supposed to be a low-mileage week, but with so many question marks in the air regarding energy levels and time commitments, I'm happy I got that much done!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As far as the rest of our Sunday, it contains football, some slow-cooked homemade chili a la Chef Harry, and a homemade flight!

Happy new week, and happy football season!
