My First Non-Endurance Workout in...(I'm embarrassed to say)

ALLRIGHT.  I decided to head back to Sarah's Monday morning spin class.  I got to her class early (about ten minutes before it started) to make sure I got a bike.  You never know this time of year.:)

I was sweating and puffing for most of the workout.  I've missed this class!  Sarah teaches Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings at 5:45am, and Mondays are endurance days.  Long intervals of climbs, some sprints, and hovers, and we were done.

Hey, Sears/Willis Tower.

I was so excited to get back to work.  I KNOW -- most teachers are all "Noooooooooo ooooooooooooooooo!", but I was happy to get back to normalcy.  My students were awesome all day; they were stoked to tell me what they got from Santa and where they traveled/who they got to see from their family.  What melts my heart is that, no matter what grade they're in, they ask me how my break was, if I got to see my family, and what I got from Santa.  Kids care!<3

To break all of that excitement, I guess I decided to take a creepy picture of me with my favorite food.

My January bulletin board is going up TODAY.  Could I get more corny?!

Got home and had a snack.  Side note:  I missed hummus.  It's not like I couldn't eat it; I just haven't gotten it from the store in a while.

And after letting that digest (can you blame me?), I moved the coffee table and ottoman in the living room, and I threw on a body weight bootcamp class on the computer.  Lunges, squats, and planks -- I hurt.  This was PERFECT for me, just a little 30-minute workout that kicked my trash.

Harry got home from his run right when I was done with the last set, so he got to hear the excruciating sound of my muscles giving up.:)

After a quick shower, Harry and I had leftovers for dinner (my family was recently in town, so we had a ton of leftover food in the fridge to go through) and started taking about our running goals for the year.  For Harry, it's not so much a goal for the events, but more the preparedness for the event.  Basically, he's changing his focus -- it's not the goal of the race, it's the plan and purpose leading up to it that matters.  The results will be awesome.  Kinda smart, huh?

I have a lofty goal that I'm not really ready to talk about; it's that scary, I guess?:)  I love the idea of focusing on the purpose, rather than the result (such as a specific time), so I'll be jumping on Harry's bandwagon there.  My goal is going to take a lot, so I might as well focus on the plan as soon as possible.

I'll probably discuss this goal with you guys really soon, I just need to gather my thoughts and shift my focus.  I will say that my plan for this goal probably includes cutting out ice cream and all things sweet and tasty.  Focus --------------------> shifting.

In other news, I had a ridiculous thought when many of my students told me what Santa had brought them for Christmas.

How was your first Monday of 2016?

If you could eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
-Snow crab!

Favorite show to Netflix binge?
-"30 Rock", "Scrubs", "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia", just to name a few.

DO YOU HAVE AN 'A' RACE FOR THIS YEAR?  You know...the ONE?
-I won't know mine for a little while, but I'll let you know ASAP.:)

  1. I do love all the puns. I tell punny jokes to my little patients and they all laugh. The parents just groan. It's no fun being a grown up, is it?

  2. First Monday was GREAT! It was so relaxing and wonderful just resting in God's peace.

And I would LOVE to do a half marathon this year. Hopefully I will start training in February.
