I'm Not an Addict, It's Cool

Harry last night, post 13-mile run home from the train station after dropping of Sophia.  He text me to run down and join him for some froyo at Josi's (and appeared to be busy while I ran down the stairs).  SNAP!

Josi's got some new flavors that I was SUPER stoked about!

Just two (2) toppings later...
(Harry's mouth is still bothering him from having an infected root tip worked on this past week, so he stuck with no toppings.  Boo.)

What's better than sleeping in on a Monday morning, rather than getting up and going out to ride your bike, especially when you see that there was a surprise downpour?  :)  I did forget my breaky, so I had to treat myself.

It rained (HARD) several times this morning.  Some of the kids thought it was cool that we got to swim while it was raining buckets outside.

Now I know this isn't new or anything, but it's my first time getting anything from Starbucks (other than a pound of free coffee every week when I was a Barista [years ago], and a birthday drink).  I felt a greedy-eerie (greerie?) smile come across my face as I tore open an envelope from my coffee spot.  I felt accomplished and slightly ashamed at the same time.  I'm GOLD status, now.  Does that make me officially an addict?

(I think it just means that I've spent an embarrassing amount of money on coffee.  Denial?)

After getting some grocery shopping taken care of and having a snack, I realized that I had made a promise to myself this morning:  I was going to come home and NOT turn on the TV.  I want to listen to pretty music and read my book, so that is what's going to happen right after I hit the "publish" button of this post!

Truth:  I am not a reader.  What an odd thing to type, you say!  I'm not, and what makes it worse is that I have a minor in English!  My eyes get tired, and I believe this makes it difficult for me to follow the story.  I could read my textbooks all day long and never want to stop.  Some pieces of literature will always be near and dear to my heart, where the story flows and the characters are all-too familiar or I have a special affinity to them.  But it's difficult for me to find something new to read.  Both my Mom and Daddio, and Harry, all read A LOT.  Dad sticks to John Grisham or Stephen King novels; he likes the law thrillers the most.  Harry will read fiction on occasion, but really appreciates factual evidence he can learn from and apply to other things in life.

Seriously, besides some of the classics (Little Women, Pride and Prejudice, Sherlock Holmes, The Iliad, Huckleberry Finn, etc.) and some newer faves (Tuesdays With Morrie comes to mind), I have read all of the Harry Potters at least twice, and same for the Hunger Games series.  Do I just like kids books?  I admire people who can't get enough to read, who "can't put their book down"; the opposite side of the spectrum from me.

At any rate, this one has kept my attention for a while.  So I'm going to cozy up on my couch and enjoy the rest of this afternoon until Harry gets home.

Do you "treat" yourself after a hot, difficult workout?

Any favorite books you'd like to share with me, and think I'd enjoy?
-I promise, I'll give it a shot!

Random:  What color is your toothbrush?

  2. Hell yeah I treat myself after a hot, difficult workout! Why else would you put yourself through it if not for the promise of what is to come?!?!
And weirdly, I definitely should have earned Gold Status a long time ago, but it doesn't count my points or something for some reason. Bitch.
I read the classics on my kindle because they are FREE (no copyright lol). I read the Count of Monte Cristo exclusively while on the spin bike when I was injured a few years back.

  3. I just earned gold status yesterday, and it's pretty much the highlight of my week.
