SNEAK PEAK -------> Apera sent me one of their brand new bags! I can't wait to do the review for you.
TANGENT TIME:
The bad part about moving all of your stuff into a new gym bag is when you forget something. Like your cycling shoes. Well that workout just wasn't happening. I took a picture of myself instead.
Am I being a cycling snob? Maybe. I've been riding my bike and the spin bike for YEARS with these shoes, and I simply can't bring myself to ride without them. What I also realized was that I had left the house without a lunch, or a breakfast, and had to hit the store anyway. I felt so out of sorts. Can we just blame the time change for everything?
Also, this picture is so deceiving --- it would appear that I'm wearing Hammer pants. I am not.
Lunch couldn't come fast enough for some reason. I was starving, maybe because of all of the rich, fatty foods I enjoyed over the weekend. Or maybe it was because it took my sweet potato 12 minutes to cook in the microwave.
I picked up some of these bad boys today. NEED THE VIT C!
After a long afternoon with some candy-detoxing kiddos, I was ready to be home. Relaxing. Chillin'. Stalking you guys.:) Harry had class, so I had the house and Netflix all to myself. Whilst Facebooking, I noticed a ton of people already getting ready for a holiday two months away.
While Thanksgiving and Christmas are two of my most favorite times of the year, I am not too pleased with the thought of seeing Christmas trees, lights and stockings already up in the stores. In fact, it makes me feel oogey.
This might be a solution, if I didn't like turkey sammiches so much.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So my workout didn't happen this morning. Would it have felt blissful to flush out the tiny bit of tightness in my quads? Yes. Was I upset by the fact that a workout wasn't happening? Absolutely not.
Wanna know why?
While it would've been nice to get my endorphins on, I was going to be furiously rushed and severely frustrated. I was already risking not washing my hair (two things here: HENCE THE RED HEADBAND, and Mondays are horrible to be a hair washing day...), and I wasn't in the mood to skip any meals. I'm not sure anyone would be in the mood for that (for me to skip meals, hah). I didn't prioritize correctly, and that's probably 90% why I'm okay with missing one workout this week.
I can't fret over that. I've been coaching my volleyball teams, working hard on Halloween stuff in my gym, and traveling. Perhaps this was the universe's way of saying "Dude...chill this morning". It's seriously okay if you miss a workout because you're overwhelmed. You can't take that personally. All I could do this morning is take care of the things I didn't previously have time for, and not worry about skipping a training sesh. My legs will forgive me, too.
Side note: I just looked at the clock, completely exhausted, eyes getting bloodshot, and it's only 7:52pm.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you freak out if you miss a run or a training session, or are you good with accepting your workout fate?
RANDOM RUNNING QUESTION: Do you have a favorite trail, loop, or route?
-I have a few around here, but I really miss the trails out by my own workplace in the 'burbs!
What shows are you into right now?
-American Horror Story for me!
QUICK: Are you enjoying some fruit today? Tell me all about it.:)

Tangent Tuesday
Just so you know, much like 90% of my posts, this one has absolutely no aim. Like whatsoever. I wouldn't blame you if you just skimmed through the whole thing and left a comment saying that you love me, that I'm your BFF, that you forgive me for randomness, etc. We'll move on now that I've prefaced with that.
A lovely run around the nearby park started things off yesterday. I came across this memorial.:)
I had to remind myself that I have to keep it slower while I'm acclimating to warmer temps. It was about 75*F when I left, and while that didn't make me too uncomfy, I did sweat a ton in a short amount of time.
I had a revelation, whilst attempting to slow myself down, and resisting the urge to stop halfway through to play with a puppy then just walk home, and that was how I needed to seriously clean up my diet. Like big time. When you put crap in the tank, you train like crap. I can't afford that going into the lengthy HIM distance training coming up shortly!
With that in mind, I started craving veggies for lunch. Harry and I head out after his run to get his suit -- one that he'll be wearing when we get hitched! We were both slightly on the hungry side, so we stopped at Wendy's to grab a bite. The Asian chicken salad was pretty good. A fast food restaurant salad obvs isn't (ever) my first choice, and we don't eat fast food all that often. Harry had a hankerin', and sometimes you gotta give in to them.
Two suits later, we head to the grocery store (we get SO STOKED when we go to Mariano's!), and nabbed a snack in the form of smoothie. My apple-ginger something or other.:)
I was held hostage for a while. The Kid and I were watching The Simpsons, and all of a sudden...
....I had to go to the bathroom at some point.:\ I clearly need to work on my variety of goofy faces.
One more snack before dinner -- Skinny Pop. Am I the only one who puts their SP in a bowl? I mean...why bother at some point...
Some #TriedItTuesday action here -- Screamin' Sicilian pizzas!
I wanted to try the Bessie's Revenge (cheese) pizza, and Harry went for the Boss Hog pizza.
PERFECT way to end a three-day weekend.
Also, you can grab a coupon from their website. GO HERE.

And speaking of training hard, I've updated my RACES AND EVENTS page! I still need to find a December race. Chicago peeps -- Any suggestions? Wanna race together?:)

*BRAIN HUG* for Tuesday, from HERE.

Did you enjoy a three-day weekend, or did you have to hit up the grind?
Frozen pizza ------------> Do you have a fave?
-We usually have a couple of *emergency* frozen pizzas in the freezer, and we might just be keeping the Screamin' Sicilians in there now. They're seriously yummy.
Are you training hard for anything this year, or in the next few months? TELL ME!<3
Any American Horror Story (AND) New Girl fans out there? Are you stoked about this?!

New Things Tangent Tuesday
FACT: Yesterday morning's spin class was fueled by pan pizza.
Tangent -- And this came on during spin class. Do you ever feel like you cannot escape someone or something -- such as T. Swift (every radio station seems to be playing one of her songs all at the same time!), or Pitbull? I can't get away from this guy.
Tangent -- Getting back on track, and getting to a 5:45am spin class makes me feel prepared for the rest of the week. Not only does it do that, but it helps me feel more organized, training wise, as well as recovered. It soothes my leggies.
After a pretty long day (my schedule changed with preps, so my lunch and classes were switched around just a bit), I got home and CHILLED. Knowing that I have a ton of stuff to do today just made me exhausted yesterday. Harry got home (equally, if not more, mentally and physically drained), and we started making dinner.
Tangent -- His burgers are the best.:)
I saw this yesterday, and it really resonated with me. I love when I read scripture or words of encouragement that I'm positive were sent from God Himself for me at that very moment. It's like a note He passed me, reminding me of something I need to remember or work on.
This afternoon will be my track team's first practice. My girls do not have the same things I had when I was on middle school track, i.e. cleats and uniforms supplied by the school, hurdles, starting blocks, sand pits, jump and crash pads, and oh yeah, A TRACK. We are walking/jogging to a nearby park that has a 1/2 mile loop trail and will begin our practices there.
I'm not gonna lie: I am excited about this. It is a happy challenge. I've thought of so many ways we can work with some of these kids with minimal equipment, and it makes me feel encouraged to brain storm and use my God-given abilities of exercise and sports physiology.
Tangent -- My run this morning was OUTSTANDING. I had three new things going for me:
A new tune (that remained on repeat).
New shoes.
New running partner. Back again so soon, Sunrise?
Short, but fun. Breaking in new shoes is always fun.
*BRAIN HUG*
LISTEN.
TO.
THIS.
NOW.
Have a gorgeous Tuesday, friends!
