Sushi for one, and Rio 2016: What I'll Be Watching

Harry has classes Monday evenings, so they're sort of my *ME* time for the moment.  So basically, I can order something yummy, watch whatever, dance around in my underpants, whatever!  On the agenda for last night:  eating some sush and watching my girl in a documentary that just came out on Netflix, "Destination:  Team USA".

Warning:  You'll need tissues.

(Side note about my sushi:  I saved the ginger for you, Suz.)

Of course, I thought about how good it's going to feel when I get back to running after watching such passion and heart-filled performance.  I am really getting excited about seeing the Pod-Doc tomorrow!

All I can think about is doing this  ---------------->

When all I can really do right now is this --------------------->

(That stride, though)

I've read article after article, blog post after blog post (thank goodness for all y'all running bloggies; I'm not thankful you got injured and have words of wisdom, but you get me;), about staying positive and have patience in the process.  Just like training, just like studying, just like anything that's worth it, there's a process.  I feel like I crave this more, I am more grateful for it, and I feel like I deserve it, this gift that is running, more than ever.

But let's be honest.

I am human, just like you.  So some days, it's more like this -------------------->

:)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Remember how you used to just watch at random times, often not knowing when your favorite event was coming on (or Bob Costas would announce it in the 90s) (I'm talking way back before cable receivers, as well)?  Well Google has made it ridiculously easy to search for your fave sport, country, etc.

Hurdles, 400m, 800m, and Relays are  my faves of Track & Field, and ohhhhhhh boy, the Marathon.<3  The first time I watched the women's marathon was in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

I was not even remotely interested in running a marathon at that point in my life.  I was barely a runner at all.  I think that I had run a 5k, but that's it.  I would say that marathon runners were bananas; that 26.2 miles was too far to drive, let alone RUN.

And then, I randomly watched the women's marathon.  I was bawling like a baby.  I watched the whole thing from start to finish, and was a mess of emotions.  I was so moved by Dita-Tomescu's Gold medal winning performance, and the battle between second and third place.

I ran my first marathon the following year.

So yeah, I'll be watching that event every summer Olympic Games.;)

Because I can never get enough of Michael Phelps (though I'm sure this will be his final Games), I'm watching Swimming events, as well.  The relays are always SO EXCITING!

I will also be catching:  Gymnastics, Volleyball, Triathlon, Soccer and Weightlifting.  I'm lucky that I have the time to catch it all, for sure.  But the DVR will probably be a helpful tool.

Thanks to the glorious ladies for the link-up!

Why I Love Thursdays

Why?  I mean, the actual day itself is kind of weird; it's too early to celebrate the weekend, yet you're over the hump of the week, soooooo...

...awkward...

...but for the bloggie, it means that I can be completely random (like that's completely out of the ordinary).  So here you go -- a Thursday random dump of my week thus far.:)

Thinking-Out-Loud2

1.  This guy is my latest superhero.

2.  He keeps the park path nice and clear for me so I can easily take pictures run without several inches of snow.

3.  If you know me, you know that this post will eventually come down to food, so let's just get to it.  THIS WAS MY FAVORITE LUNCH THIS WEEK.  Perfect for a day that called for temps barely kickin' 20*F.  Trader Joe's -----------> you get me.

4.  Fave snack that my Cheerleaders found out about.  Oops.

 5.  I somehow kept these a secret.:)

6.  Winter makes me realize that I have serious #ponytailprobs.  My hair laying on my neck is not an option, and it's practically the only way I can wear it unless I have a hoodie that allows for the p-tail.

Plus, my head gets hot REALLY quickly while running, so running with a hood/balaclava/cap/hat is out of the question for the most part.

7.   More #ponytailprobs.  And I was just going to the store around the corner from the house.

8.   (back to food) YUMMY RUMMY IS BACK ON GRUBHUB!  And yesterday was the best day ever for me!

9.  Since the /R/iver /R/unners take the winter off (the track is completely covered in snow, and the park is closed -- no lights!), we drop the workout, keep the beer and pizza, and add "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia".:)  Greg and Harry usually do the beer thing.

10.  And sometimes Solemate Steph does my hair.  We have priorities.

11.  And just for funsies, I added one more to the usual Thursday Thoughts, and had to show you Women's Running highlighting my girl!  ONE MONTH TO GO, DR. DRE!<3

Happy ALMOST FRIDAY, friends!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Any big, exciting plans for the weekend?
-Harry and I are hoofin' it to AZ for a race weekend!

Favorite find from Trader Joe's?
-I have too many faves at this point.  A little redundant...

#Ponytail probs?
-Let's hug it out.

TOLT: I'm Ready Already.

Preface:  Two things came in the mail the other day that seriously made me excited for Autumn.  I know that I'm about two months from seeing it, but I couldn't help but get stoked after opening these beautiful boxes.

Also, Nordstrom can have all of my money.

So my feet will be warm and cozy.  There's more stuff on the way, I'm broke. sorry to say excited!  Also, these slippers are already on my feet -- they are ridiculously comfy.

I'm going to go out on a limb and share things that I'm totally looking forward to at this very moment, no matter how ahead of schedule they may be.

1.  Autumn runs.<3  Is there anything more romantic?

2.  Pumpkin Pie/Spice everything.

3.  And pumpkin beer!

4.  Snuggling.

5.  Seeing kinfolk!

(That's Texan for "Family".)

6.  Cute clothes, boots, and hats.

7.  Decorations.

8.  SCARY MOVIES.  Even past Halloween!

9.  More Autumn running.  I won't get enough of it.

And one last thing that I'm looking forward to that happens in *LESS THAN A YEAR* now!

10.  #RIO!
