Back On Track [And My Friend Qualified for the 2016 Olympic Marathon Trials]

It's only Tuesday, but I feel like I'm on the right path with this week.  After a week of recovery, which included 10 whopping running miles, and practically eating whatever I wanted, I'm ready to be back on track with nutrition and some *whatever I wanna do* training.  Back to spin class!

And a gorgeous morning in the Chi.:)

I gotta get back to eating for training now.  I had my week of "FUN NOMS", and while I'm not 100% strict with my eating (or even 90%...hah), I do try to eat in moderation.  Don't get me wrong:  I enjoy my food. Harry and I have weird mix of healthy-to-stupid yummy diets, but we're able to control ourselves for the most part.  But really, my body has been craving brown rice and avocado.

It helps to treat yourself every once in a while.  I got my very first facial yesterday, and it was glorious.  My face feels so light and fresh!  Not to mention, I got some relaxing time on a Monday afternoon.

I started off my morning with a shorty 5K through the park.  I'm happy, happy, happy to have taken some time to recover and rest from the training and the marathon, but I'm really excited to get back out early in the morning.  I still have races this year, and already have some scheduled for next year!:)

In other news, a friend/former colleague of mine from when I was living in San Antonio bust out a 2:41:05 in the 2014 Chicago Marathon, which means she's heading to the Olympic Trials!

I thought of her OFTEN while out on the marathon course, knowing that I was following in her footsteps.  I thought of her in some of my toughest times while running, and was instantly motivated to push, push, push.

Her spirit, her energy, and her dedication to the sport and her family are so inspiring. Not to mention, she owns and coaches indoor soccer, basketball, etc. at her facility in San Antonio, AND teaches at couple of Universities in San Antonio.  Dr. Dre does it all, and she is Superwoman to me!

One last thing before I go.  How FIT are you, REALLY?

Happy Tuesday, Friends!

  1. That is so cool. I can't imagine running that fast. I honestly don't even know if my sprint is close to her regular running speed.

    1. I don't even think my legs are long enough to run that fast EVER.
