Here Comes 2014! [Resolutions and Such]

Happy Monday!  I hope that your holidays were absolutely glorious and filled with joy.  Harry and I were blessed enough to have several Christmas celebrations!  We took off for Dallas to see my kin the Sunday before Christmas, returned after Christmas Day, got to spend this past weekend with his daughter, Sophia, and his family.  I have felt absolutely blessed the whole of 2013, but this end-of-the-year holiday went above and beyond my heart-smiling expectations!  :)

Are you ready for a new year, whether it be a "New You", a goal, or just being able to write the new year on your rent check?  It's right around the corner!

We all make some version of New Year's Resolutions.  I find the varied levels of difficulty in goals that people set as pretty astounding.  Some people want to change one small thing about them.  Many people want to change several things that they don't find acceptable in their lives.  Then there are people who want to kick habits or lose weight (and Target and Walmart are already celebrating Valentine's Day, y'all...hmm).  For the past several years, I've opted to make one tiny, insignificant goal for my resolution, that is quite easily met, and makes me feel good about myself.  One year it was to smile more.  Another year, my resolution was to say "bless you" to anyone and everyone I heard sneeze (including people on the other side of the grocery store).  This year, my goal is to add a fresh side veggie to all of the dinner meals Harry and I prepare.  Simple, easily met, and makes me happy!

More importantly, training goals will be on the up-and-up, for sure.  Harry and I have made a Yoga-pact (at least twice a week...both of us are having so many hip issues lately, grrrr!), and I have several individual running distance and race goals.  I already have several races lined up, so this should be an interesting year!

Are you setting a big or small goal for this year?  If it's a big, big, big goal, I wish you nothing but luck!  Let me know what it is; I'm a great cheerleader and will totally keep you in-check.  If it's a small goal, or even a silly or insignificant (in the grand scheme of things), SAME SENTIMENT.  ;)

As for the last couple of days of 2013, I am off from work (thanks, Winter Break!), cleaning like a mad woman, and doing a bit of pampering and shopping.  Life is good.

Peace!

  1. 2013 has been a great year for you! I don't like the hip issues, though.

There are definitely things that need to change in my life, though I don't typically make them a New Year's resolution. However, I like your idea of picking challenges that are easily met!

    1. Right?! I'd like to think that 2013 was just the most wonderful year, for both of us! :) The hip issues are surely just due to imbalances causing wonkies. Yoga should definitely help!
